1. About Hangouts Circle
Hangouts Circle is an online platform designed to help adults discover, create and participate in social hangouts and connect with other people. It provides technological tools that let users discover people and activities, create hangouts, communicate with other users and arrange social meetings.
Hangouts Circle is not the organiser, supervisor, employer, agent, representative, security provider or guarantor of the users who independently create or take part in hangouts. Unless an activity is explicitly identified as officially organised by Hangouts Circle, hangouts are created independently by users.
By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the platform.
2. Age requirement — 18+
Hangouts Circle is intended exclusively for persons aged 18 or older. Persons under 18 may not use the platform. By creating an account or using the platform, you declare that you are at least 18 years old.
We may suspend or remove an account where there are reasonable grounds to believe that the user is under 18. You must not knowingly facilitate the participation of minors through Hangouts Circle.
3. User-created hangouts and hosts
Hangouts are normally created by independent users. A user who creates a hangout is referred to as the Host.
Hosts are not employees, agents, representatives or partners of Hangouts Circle merely because they create a hangout. Hosts independently decide the details of their activities and are responsible for making sure that what they propose is lawful and accurately described.
Hangouts Circle does not guarantee that information provided by hosts or participants is accurate, complete or current.
4. Personal responsibility
Meeting people through the internet involves inherent risks. Every user is responsible for their own decisions, actions, behaviour and personal safety when communicating with or meeting another person through Hangouts Circle.
You voluntarily decide whether to communicate, whether to disclose personal information, and whether to join, host, attend, remain at or leave an activity. Profiles, photographs, badges, reviews or activity history must never be interpreted as a guarantee that a person is safe, trustworthy or suitable to meet.
You are responsible for your own transportation, belongings and health, and for deciding who to meet and where.
5. Meeting places
For first meetings, and for meetings with people you do not know well, we strongly encourage you to meet in public, populated and reasonably accessible places.
- Cafés
- Restaurants
- Parks
- Public squares
- Shopping centres
- Busy streets
Exercise additional caution around private homes, hotel rooms, vehicles, isolated beaches, remote natural areas, abandoned buildings and other isolated locations.
This is a strong safety recommendation rather than a prohibition: private locations are not banned by these Terms, and there are legitimate reasons to hold a hangout somewhere private. The decision, and the responsibility for it, is yours.
6. You can always leave
If something does not feel safe or comfortable, leave. You never need a reason, an excuse or anyone's permission, and you do not owe anybody your presence, your time or your personal information.
Participants may leave a hangout whenever they choose, before or after it starts. Read our Safety Guidelines for practical guidance.
7. Consent
Consent must always be respected. Joining or attending a hangout does not constitute consent to romantic, physical or sexual contact of any kind.
Consent can be withdrawn at any time, for any reason. Boundaries must be respected the first time they are expressed.
8. Violence, harassment and abuse
Hangouts Circle must not be used to facilitate:
- Violence or threats
- Intimidation or coercion
- Stalking
- Harassment or bullying
- Sexual harassment or unwanted sexual behaviour
- Hate-based abuse or discrimination
- Exploitation of other users
- Deliberate physical endangerment
- Impersonation or deceptive identities
- Spam or repeated unwanted contact
- Sharing another person's private information
Breaches may lead to removal of content and to restriction, suspension or removal of the account, proportionately to the seriousness of the breach.
9. Illegal activities
You must comply with applicable law. The platform must not be used to organise, promote or facilitate unlawful activities, including:
- Violence
- Fraud and scams
- Theft
- Unlawful drug distribution
- Sexual exploitation
- Human trafficking
- Deliberate property damage
- Any other illegal activity
Where legally required, Hangouts Circle may cooperate with the competent authorities.
10. Alcohol and substances
You remain individually responsible for lawful and responsible alcohol consumption. Nobody may pressure another person to consume alcohol or any other substance. Illegal drugs and unlawful controlled substances are prohibited in connection with the platform, and you must never drive under the influence.
11. Physical activities
Hangouts may involve cycling, hiking, swimming, running, sports, dancing, outdoor activities and travel. Participation is always voluntary.
You must assess your own health, ability, experience, equipment and preparation before taking part. Hosts should accurately disclose reasonably foreseeable characteristics or risks of the activity they propose.
Hangouts Circle does not provide professional medical, technical or safety assessments of user-created activities.
12. Host responsibility
Hosts must behave responsibly and must not:
- Knowingly provide materially misleading information
- Create illegal activities
- Intentionally expose participants to undisclosed serious risks
- Impersonate another person
- Exploit participants
- Request undisclosed payments
- Facilitate harassment, violence or criminal conduct
13. Participant responsibility
Participants must respect hosts, other participants, staff, local residents, property, applicable laws and the reasonable rules of the venue or activity. Participants may leave whenever they choose.
14. Identity and no background checks
You must not intentionally impersonate another person or create a materially deceptive identity.
Hangouts Circle cannot guarantee any user's identity, background, intentions or behaviour. Unless we explicitly state otherwise, Hangouts Circle does not perform comprehensive criminal background investigations of its users. Age is self-reported and not independently verified.
15. No guarantee of behaviour or outcomes
Hangouts Circle cannot guarantee:
- How another user will behave
- That anyone will actually attend
- That profile information is accurate
- That an activity will happen as described
- That people will get along
- That every location remains safe
- That every user will comply with these Terms
16. Reporting
You can report potential breaches of these Terms. You do not need proof to make a report. Reports may concern harassment, threats, violence, fake profiles, scams, inappropriate behaviour, dangerous activities, illegal conduct and unwanted sexual behaviour.
We may review reports and take proportionate action at the level of the platform. A report does not guarantee any particular outcome, and we cannot commit to a particular response time.
Reports are allegations. Any moderation action we take is a platform-level decision, not a judicial finding about any person.
17. Moderation
Moderation on Hangouts Circle is primarily reactive: it is based on reports and on information that otherwise comes to our attention. We do not continuously review every user, every message, every hangout or any physical meeting, and we do not supervise real-world meetings.
18. Emergencies
Hangouts Circle is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. The reporting features in the app are not a substitute for the police, medical assistance or any other emergency service, and we cannot intervene in real-world situations.
19. Your content and communications
You are responsible for the content you upload — including photos, hangout descriptions and messages — and you must hold the rights necessary to publish it.
Messaging must not be used for spam, harassment, repeated unwanted contact, threats, scams, unlawful solicitation, illegal material or sexual harassment.
20. Real-world meetings
Physical interactions between users normally take place outside the technical control of Hangouts Circle. Hosts and participants remain individually responsible for their own behaviour. Nothing in these Terms attempts to exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
21. Insurance, transportation and money
Unless we expressly state otherwise, use of Hangouts Circle does not provide you with accident, health, travel or civil-liability insurance of any kind.
Transportation arranged between users — including lifts, shared vehicles and shared travel — is an independent arrangement between those users unless transport is explicitly provided by Hangouts Circle.
Be careful before giving money to, lending property to, or entering into any financial arrangement with someone you met through the platform. Such arrangements are strictly between the users involved.
22. Protecting your personal information
Avoid sharing unnecessarily:
- Your home address
- Banking or payment information
- Passwords and verification codes
- Identity-document numbers
- Private security information
- Other sensitive personal information
How Hangouts Circle itself handles your data is described in our Privacy Policy.
23. Account restriction and suspension
We may proportionately restrict, suspend or terminate an account where this is reasonably necessary — for example for breaches of these Terms, serious safety risks, harassment, fraud, underage use, illegal use, repeated abuse, evasion of a previous suspension, or serious disruption of the platform or the community.
24. Platform availability
We do not guarantee continuous or uninterrupted availability of the platform. Access may be unavailable temporarily because of maintenance, technical issues, security measures or circumstances beyond our control, and features may change over time.
25. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, and subject always to the paragraph below, Hangouts Circle and its operator shall not be liable for damages arising out of or in connection with meetings voluntarily arranged between users, or with the conduct of any user, including injuries, theft, disputes, property damage, financial loss, assault, fraud or distress. The platform is provided "as is" and "as available".
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability, or any consumer right, that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable Spanish law or European Union law. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, and for mandatory consumer protections.
27. Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time for functionality, safety, regulatory, platform or legal reasons. Where a change is material we will make that clear within the platform. Continued use of Hangouts Circle after an update constitutes acceptance of the latest version.
28. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force to the extent permitted by law, and the invalid provision will be applied as far as it lawfully can be.
29. Applicable law
These Terms are governed by Spanish law and applicable European Union law. Nothing here deprives consumers of the mandatory protections or the jurisdiction rights available to them under the law of their place of residence. Operator identification details are published in our Legal Notice.
